Looking Good for July 4th
I just returned from an outdoors vacation in Utah and have to tell you that the RVs are on the road and the 25+ parks we saw from Hwy 160 across southern Colorado were packed! There was a fairly steady stream of RVers heading west. Indications are that this will be a busy long weekend for our parks across the country. Hope the weather cooperates and it doesn’t rain the entire weekend. I know weather has been a factor for much of June – even here in Colorado. Let me know how your weekend turned out. My niece who is travel editor for the Denver Post is on a RV vacation of the national parks with her two girls – they will be staying in some of our member parks on their two week trip. Should make for a good article. To read more click here.

Buy Low-E Window Film
www.thedailygreen.com
While you're waiting for the windfall that will pay for new windows, reap the benefits of low-E coated glass.
While you are waiting for the windfall that will pay for all new windows for your house, you can still reap many of the benefits of low-E coated glass by applying one of the several types of window film to your panes. A plastic film with low-E coating can reduce heat loss through old windows by 40%.
Flipped one way, the film keeps solar radiation out in hotter regions. Flipped the other way in cold climates, it reflects heat back inside. For those who are particularly thrifty, it is a great DIY project. Or you can pay to have the film professionally installed.

Evergreen Increases Scholarship Amounts for National School of RV Park & Campground Management
ARVC's Official Campground Insurance Provider realizes that in difficult economic times people must make difficult decisions about where to spend their money. Evergreen realizes that education is a long term investment that is very important. To help people to continue to invest in their future and the future of the camping industry, Evergreen has increased the amount it will give people for scholarships to the National School or RV Park & Campground Management (www.campgroundschool.org) .
Evergreen will provide a scholarship of $300.00 per student who attends the National School. This scholarship program is offered to staff and owners of campgrounds and RV parks insured by either Evergreen Indemnity, Ltd., or Evergreen USA, RRG, Inc. There is a $600.00 calendar year scholarship limit per account. Application must be made at least 30 days prior to the start of the School. Evergreen USA is also a corporate sponsor of the School of RV Park and Campground Management. To apply, contact Missy Bourgoin at missy@evergreenusa.com or at 1-800-343-7900.

Campgrounds, RV parks in United States spend some green to go 'green'
The Canadian Press, By James Prichard – June 29, 2009
HOPKINS TOWNSHIP, Mich. — There's a lot about Clay's Park Resort that appeals to Janet Durtschi, including its ongoing effort to get "greener."
She and her husband, Donald, have bought seasonal memberships to the northeastern Ohio campground for the past seven years. When there, she enjoys playing miniature golf, dining at Ralphie's restaurant and cruising in a golf cart to look at wildflowers. He spends much of his time at the indoor swimming pool, where the park is installing solar panels to help heat the water and changing the sanitization system from chlorine to saline. Before last winter, the resort replaced the propane heating system in its administrative offices with a wood-burning stove fuelled by the park's lawn and tree clippings. To read more click here.
TRAVEL: Crowds of RVs take to the road again
Phones were ringing off the hook last week at the Holly Lake Camp Sites near Long Neck.
That's just one small indicator that the state's RV camping market is on the rebound after being hit hard by high gas prices the last few years, which kept many campers off the road.
Southern Delaware's many public and private campgrounds are reporting a strong season, despite the economic downturn. To read more click here
Pitch a Tent for a Cheap Family Getaway
The idea was to introduce the kids to the backcountry without all the work that backpacking entails. We planned to hike to a backcountry New Hampshire hut operated by the Appalachian Mountain Club where, rather than lug our tents and food, we'd each get a cot and a meal.
It poured the entire way, of course. We slipped and slid over the rocks on the muddy trail and arrived soaked, but laughing. Years later, my kids still talk about that trip. Two of the three have grown into accomplished backpackers. My older daughter, Reggie, has spent several summers leading teens on wilderness trips. To read more click here.
SBA unveils RV dealer loan plan
The U.S. Small Business Administration recently released a new loan program aimed at helping RV and other dealerships borrow money.
Dealership owners, if qualified, will be able to borrow from $500,000 up to $2 million against their inventory under the SBA “floor plan financing.”
“In recent months, we’ve seen a dramatic decrease in the availability of credit for financing dealership inventories,” said Karen G. Mills, the administrator of the SBA, in a statement. “We want to be a partner for these small businesses and help ensure they have the resources they need to help keep their businesses open, save jobs and survive these tough economic times.” To read more click here.
