ARVC National Issues Conference April 27-29, 2009NOTE:  Marcia Galvin, President of the Massachusetts Association of Campground Owners (MACO) attended ARVC’s recent National Issues Conference and put together this great report on her experience.  Marcia’s family (the Daniels) owns Normandy Farms Family Camping Resort in Foxboro, MA, celebrating their 250th Anniversary June 12 – 14.

I recently attended my fourth National Issues Conference in Washington, DC. There were over 30 members of ARVC representing states from Maine to California.  This year’s conference was planned differently.  At the conclusion of last years conference, it was determined that to get the best speakers as we really needed to be “on the hill” for the entire conference.  I feel the move made a significant difference in the quality of speakers and their wealth of information.  To read more click here.

Membership Corner

ARVC Membership information submitted by ARVC Membership Director, Daniel Gurley.

Music & Movie Licensing for 2009A copyright is property owned by a person or group of people including books, records, movies, computer software and music.  Music and movies are like all personal property – when you want to borrow it from someone you must ask permission.  All public performances of music and movies, even most non-profit ones, must be licensed (with a few exceptions, such as performances in the course of a religious service at a place of worship, or face-to-face teaching in non-profit education institutions).  Music and movies are the property of the people who create them.

This is the requirement by Title 17 of the US Code, also known as the U.S. Copyright Law.  ARVC has negotiated discounts with the three Congressionally mandated music licensing companies (BMI, ASCAP, & SESAC) and the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).   To sign up for these licenses, please see the information below:

Now is the time to sign up for the RV Park and Campground Management School for February 16-20, 2010!
See what all the buzz is about!  Denise Gallo and Denne Yenchochic, Owners/Operator of River's Edge Camping and Cabins, Connellsville, PA said this of the 2009 school...
“We attended the campground management school in hopes of gaining “text-book” knowledge to assist us in running our business better.  What we gained from the school was much more than book knowledge.  The opportunity to share meaningful stories with and among some of the nation’s most impressive campground owners was invaluable. Much of what we learned will shape our business decisions now and in the future.”

Looking for Partners in Education! (PIE)
